Vincent Bluff Prairie in Council Bluffs was dedicated on Saturday.  The lush green hillsides of the prairie formed an appropriate backdrop to the ceremony.  It was a sunny day and it was just breezy and cool enough to be invigorating.  An impressive array of speakers extolled the benefits and values of having this prairie.  They included representatives of every organization and governmental unit that helped or supported in the development of this prairie.  A contingent of the Vincent family told of their memories and of their goals in seeing the prairie being established and protected.  The ceremony was capped with an excellent keynote presentation by author, John Price.
Once ceremony, at the shiny new visitors’ area and entrance, was completed, Glenn Pollock led a walking tour of the prairie.  He led the group through the several ecosystems present in the 36 acre facility and enumerated many of the characteristics of each that were in evidence at this time.  The quality of this prairie preserve is a tribute to Glenn and the many people who worked many hours over a number of years to achieve its protected status.  It is well worth a stop if in the area.
